5 TRENDING PRINTS TO WEAR THIS WINTER 2022 | SHOP THE LOOK

Wearing “trending” prints is one thing. How to wear them is another. Which I personally find very important to know.

A print can wear you if you do not select the right style of print to suit you, your shape and your personality. If you feel you are uncertain which print will work for you and how to style it, reach out for a personalised styling/shopping board.

Here are some of the top prints to wear this season and the selected styles I have chosen for you.

  1. HOUNDSTOOTH

A beautiful classic that is having a resurgence from the past, coming back in the 2022 Winter style trends. This subtle yet striking pattern can be worn over a statement collared shirt and tailored trousers, giving you a sophisticated and edgy look as seen in the Versace, Coach and Kim Shui runways which all featured strong walks incorporated with houndstooth.

STYLE NOTE: To tone down the print, opt for a houndstooth skirt and keep the top half simple with no pattern.

2. GEOMETRIC PRINTS

Geometric prints are returning in the 2022 Winter trends paying an ode to the sophisticated groovy era. The flamboyant pattern was seen among the runway with brands such as Yves Saint Laurent highlighting the trippy sense of chaos which you can also incorporate into your wardrobe while also making it look classy and colourful.

STYLE NOTE: Break some typical fashion rules and wear your geometric prints how you want following colour patterns and body shape and you’ll be the most confident this Winter season.

3. ANIMAL PRINT

Animal print dominated the 2022 Autumn/Winter runway circuit with Michael Kors and Bottega Veneta, simply because it adds dimension and colour whether they’re rendered realistically or abstractly.

STYLE NOTE: Pair animal print with earthy hues or bright pops of colour to mix up your winter wardrobe and make it special to your preferences and personality

4. GRAYSCALE PATTERNS

The use of black and white to create grayscale prints has been portrayed all throughout the Winter runways in 2022. Highlighted with brands such as Prada, Vaquera and Thebe Magugu the disorted patterns are showcased with monochromatic looks to fit in with the Winter trends.

STYLE NOTE: Add some texture to create visual depth to the outfit such as a scarf or hat and you’re ready for a winters day ahead.

5. PLAID

The perfect pattern in plaid is coming back from the past to return and make its way onto the streets in the Winter 2022 fashion season. Coming in many shades suited to Autumn and Winter plaid is alive and vibrant and will help you be the most chic you possibly can!

STYLE NOTE: Pair you plaid with some tailored pants and a white shirt to spice up your winter staples collection.

TOP 5 PICNIC OUTFITS TO WEAR IN 2021

Brown Caramel Collection Fashion & Clothing Retail In-Stream Video Ad (4).png

It’s 2021-- time to pack up last year’s dad sandals, yoga pants, and knitted tops.
I’ve compiled a list of sophisticated yet practical items to elevate your picnic or outdoor dining look this summer.

These looks can take you from the garden to dinner.

FLOAT IN CHIFFON.

1. CHIFFON DRESS.

Maxi dresses are essential for picnics-- while they add length to your silhouette, they also make standing up and sitting down on the grass a breeze. This ethereal chiffon dress is a dreamy addition to your wardrobe.

The high neck front, combined with the low drop back, creates the perfect harmony of modesty and flirtatiousness.

The fluidity of this dress is simply unmatched.

RUFFLE IN VIOLET.

2. RUFFLE DRESS.

If you’re looking for something sophisticated yet comfortable, this playful off-shoulder dress highlights your best assets while letting you feel comfortable all day. The ruffles at the top bring attention to the decolletage, which I believe is the most sensual part of a woman’s body, while the ruching draws attention away from the abdominal area.

You may already be overwhelmed at the thought of wearing ruffles, but the ruching, cuffed sleeves and the length of this dress keep everything neatly contained.

THE TIERED FRILL.

3. THE SET.

IMG_0843.JPG

Crop tops have become a common sight at picnics-- understandably so since they accentuate the waist and bust.
This bustier, however, stands out to me as it radiates movement and life. It is cleverly constructed, with a ribbon tie on one shoulder to keep the top even more secure. I like to keep it on my arm to make it look interesting.

The tiered pleats on the skirt elongate the legs, while the belt cinches the waist, so you can always be sure that your silhouette is not overwhelmed by the details. For a less dressy look, pair it with a white T-shirt and gladiator sandals.

PLAYFUL IN THE SUN.

4. THE BUSTIER DRESS.

Feminine and flirty, this wrap dress transforms with a little movement. Especially if you are pearl- or emerald shaped, the asymmetrical, handkerchief hem draws the eye away from the waistband and stomach. While the dress elongates the body for more petite silhouettes, you can also break it up by showing your leg off with the wrap detail.

FLARE WITH FLAIR.

5. MANDARIN COLLAR DRESS.

By far my favourite of the season-- this mandarin-collared dress is both delicate and edgy. The flare sleeves give the illusion of slimmer arms and softens the structured neckline. You can choose to wear it buttoned or buttoned, depending on how much weight you carry around the chest-- buttoned for smaller chests, unbuttoned for bustier chests. With a pair of heels or flats, this dress transitions seamlessly from picnic to bar.

TOP 10 FASHION TRENDS TO SHOP FOR THIS 2020

Most people are struggling with what to buy, what is worth buying and how to style new trends to suit them.

So many trends are out there and a whole lot of "influencers" are influencing the wrong way. Just to clarify on a few things, the photos you are looking at and saving as inspiration are touched up photos or garments that are pinned together. Mostly, something to think about before rushing to buy the “trend” should be “ is this style really ME ?” Or are you buying for the sake of an Instagram trend and a photo to share? It is time to re-connect with yourself and be true to yourself. It is time to unleash that inner style and personality of yours and learn how to incorporate an elegant style to your daily looks. Kardashian style is a style you WILL look back on and feel somewhat, ashamed from. Bedsides, "it is so a few seasons ago"! So ditch the KK look and ask yourself, "WHO AM I?".

Below, I am gladly talking trends with you, the 5 trends that are worth incorporating into your wardrobe and styling to suit you. For personal styling questions and personal shopping contact COCO LOUISE.

3 LOOKS TO TREND THIS 2020

1. SHORTS IN ALL FORMS

A more refined look than bicycle shorts and a blazer. Mini and knee-length Bermuda shorts have been professionally walking down the runways and looking extremely sharp. Seeing fabrics like sequin, leather, twill and tailored make an entry. This trend can cover you for occasions such as a friendly brunch to a work lunch (if wearing a Bermuda cut).

3.DETAILED YOKES & NECKLINES

This is a beautiful element to trend, so much uniqueness one can incorporate to their outfit and look stylish and chic. Find a yoke that suits your silhouette. If you are a "Pearl Shape" steer away from the round-shaped yokes and opt for the narrow and vertical. If you are a "Teardrop Shape" select a yoke with excessive details, such as beadwork, horizontal lines and roundness.

4.EVERYTHING BLUE

It is not just a splash of blue, it is your body wrapped in blue! Blue was a prestigious and expensive colour in European painting. It became a common colour for clothing in the renaissance. And so... here we are 2020, the rise of blue! Embracing it through a variety of textures, Chiffons, denim, leather, sequin, beadwork and embroidery. Light your eyes with the below and happy blue shop!

5.SOFT LEATHER

Vegan or non-vegan, soft leather is a highlighted trend for the season. From drawstring wide-leg pants to body-hugging bustiers. It can take your silhouette through transitioning weather and occasions. It is a textile that can be mixed with all contrasting fabric or in this case another layer of soft layering for power.

6. FRINGING

Here is a trend that is a fad, meaning, it won't last. It is one of those trends that you just cannot wear next season, until the return of the fringe... However, I have personally always loved a dazzling outfit full of fringing. Which is why I have included it. The way a fringe moves with your silhouette is alluring and bold! It adds a contrast of edge and playfulness to ones look. If head to toe fringe is just not you, then opt for a belt that has some fringing or source an item which includes a delicate frayed hem fringe. The styling tip I can suggest is to make sure the fringing is positioned on the smallest area of the silhouette. To be more specific, if the fringing is starting on the widest part of our body, it may exaggerate that part.

7. WRAP SKIRTS

Such a feminine and graceful way to enter Summer in. The wrap skirt is here as a cover-up for the beach, around the pool or to the resort bar. It is also looking elegant as casual or evening wear. Seeing tulip style wrap skirts, high slit wrap skirts and beach wraps. All styles are mostly dropped waist. However, if a drop waist does not work for your shape, high waisted are still around. The mini is great for petite women and the loose midi for those who have room to appear shorter.

8. CAFTAN SHAPED MAXI'S

Caftans are the best travel essentials, but in this case, you can throw your caftan over a sheer chemise like a poncho and head out to the shops or lunch! Another effortless look that is trés chic! Flow with soft textures such as silks, Make sure you have the right shape for you. If you are small chested, grab a high neck, if you are large chested opt for a low plunge V-Neck. Do not forget to include statement accessories!

9. WIDE & LOOSE TROUSERS

An extremely effortlessly cool and chic look. Wide leg and lose trousers may not be for all body shape. However, there are ways to make it work for you. For example, If you are petite, make sure you opt for the cropped version. This look is fresh and comfortable, styles such as a high cinched in waist to a low slung waist are in. Printed trousers and also lustrous silks. If you are wider on the hips opt for a more structured fabric over silk.

Pair these trousers with a heel for height and flats for the long legs.

10. CUT-OUTS

It is up to you how you want to trend this statement detail. In my personal opinion, it can be worn elegantly.... otherwise, some generations will automatically trend this in a gaudy way. If you are willing to give 'cut-outs' a try, find a style that can align with you and your body shape. It can be as subtle as an open cut neckline. This trend may not last, however, can still be worn with class. Remember, do not wear it, if you do not feel it.
